COLUMN: Top 5 teams in the NFL heading into Week 5

The NFL season is in full swing, and these five teams are making names for themselves

1. San Francisco 49ers (4-0)

The 49ers had a dark offseason that was riddled with injuries, which even included head coach Kyle Shanahan, who was involved in a two-car head-on collision. Now, four weeks into the new season, the 49ers have yet to be beaten.

With a plus-58 point differential, their sheer domination has been on full display every game.

It hasn't looked picture perfect for them at any point this season, but they continue to put points on the board and suppress opposing defenses. There has yet to be a receiver or rusher to go over 100 yards in a single game for the 49ers this season.

They will face a major test next week as they take on the defending champs, the Seattle Seahawks.

2. Kansas City Chiefs (4-0)

Now in sole possession of the AFC West, the Chiefs appear to be back. Recently, Kansas City handed the Las Vegas Raiders their first loss of the season, and leaned on the MVP of last season's Super Bowl, Kenneth Walker III.

Walker ran for a career high 177 yards and two touchdowns. Head coach Andy Reid has made it clear that the offense is run through the league's leading rusher.

The Chiefs will look to keep things rolling against a division opponent in the Los Angeles Chargers who are yet to win a game this season.

3. Jacksonville Jaguars (3-1)

Trevor Lawrence has some valuable weapons available to him, and he has been putting them to use.

All three of Jacksonville's wins have come against AFC teams that have looked like they could make playoff pushes (Browns, Patriots, Bengals). That trio of wins are very strong victories against non-divisional opponents.

In a weak AFC South, the Jaguars could be poised for a playoff run where they may end up having some games on their own home turf.

4. Buffalo Bills (3-1)

Losing at home to New England is a tough blow, especially with divisional implications on the line. However, I do believe that game was more about the Patriots making exceptional plays in a desperation spot than the Bills simply dropping one at home.

Josh Allen remains the front-runner in the MVP race, but there may be some glaring flaws on the defensive side of the ball. It will come down to what it always has come down to in the Allen era: How far can he carry the Bills in the playoffs?

The Bills will have to go through a gauntlet in their next four games.

Week 5: at Rams

Week 6: at Raiders

Week 7: vs. Ravens

Week 8: at Vikings

5. Seattle Seahawks (3-1)

Yes, this is not the same team that won the Super Bowl last season, but there is still greatness all over the roster and coaching staff.

After a relatively rough last two weeks for the Seahawks, fans of the team should not be too worried moving forward.

Sam Darnold is still trying to settle into the new season, as he only played six snaps until he was injured in Week 1.

Remember, the Seahawks last season got hot in late November and rode that wave of momentum all the way to a Super Bowl victory.

Now, this coming Sunday, they will have the ultimate test at home against an undefeated 49ers team.
