After a draw on the road against Wisconsin, No. 2 Indiana was back at Bill Armstrong Stadium on Friday afternoon to face the Penn State Nittany Lions.
In a hard fought game between the two Big Ten foes, Oliver Moller-Jensen’s two goals proved to be the difference, and his game-winning goal in the 77th minute lifted the Hoosiers to a 2-1 victory.
Friday’s game was already the second brace of 2026 for Moller-Jensen, who now has seven goals on the season, already more than he had all of last year at FAU.
Despite Indiana squeaking out the win, most of the match was filled with missed opportunities that nearly cost IU a victory.
The Hoosiers had 23 total shots on the match, only putting six of them on net. Charlie Heuer had a lot of great chances in the first half. Alex Barger just missed wide on a shot late in the match. Stephane Njike failed to convert on a penalty kick in the 85th minute.
Still, Indiana managed to do just enough to avoid the upset and pick up three points.
“It’s just the next play, we kept holding each other up,” Moller-Jensen said postgame. “Keep going because we know eventually it’s going to go into the net.”
Friday’s match was the third of a 10-game Big Ten schedule. IU knows that no conference game is easy, and the grind will continue into October and November.
“I think there’s a middle and there’s a lot of teams fighting for the top tier,” head coach Todd Yeagley added postgame. “There is no bottom.”
The Hoosiers, this time, will have a full week to prepare for their next Big Ten contest, as they will host No. 4 Maryland in a massive conference showdown next Friday. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. Eastern, and will be televised on Big Ten Network.
