INDIANAPOLIS — As all 14 teams descend on Indianapolis this week to officially kick off the 2021 Big Ten football season, day one of Big Ten Media Days brought in more questions than answers — most of which came right from the commissioner, Kevin Warren.

Hard to believe we are nearly two months away from Indiana football kicking off what may become its most important season in 25-plus years.
Why?
Yes, the 2020 season was magical in many ways for Indiana but it also carries a dark cloud of what-ifs.
WHAT IF Michigan has a better year?
WHAT IF Penn State is at full strength?
WHAT IF Michael Penix Jr. stays healthy?
During the 2021 season, these what-ifs will be proven true or not. We will find out whether 2020 was truly the beginning of a new age in Indiana football or just a brief chapter of success that leads to further disappointment.
That being said, there are five games in 2021 where I feel we will learn firsthand just what this Indiana team can do next.

Let me begin by saying this: Brad Stevens is not coming to Indiana.
As fun as it is to imagine the glorious homecoming that he would receive. Brad Stevens to Indiana is like the girl in high school you believed you had a shot with because of that one time you made her smile (not speaking on personal experience on that one, by the way.)
And for those of you who are here still thinking there is a chance, Brad Stevens himself is even going on sports talk shows to deny his want to leave the Celtics.

TAMPA — I have a 1-year-old nephew. For his birthday this year, I decided to give him a Little Tikes indoor slide. He loved it. He went up and down over and over and over. Until he decided he wanted to walk up the slide.
We all know how this story ends. He fell. He cried. And as quickly as it had arrived, the slide was put in the closet until he is old enough to handle it.
It's not that we didn't love watching him enjoy it, he simply wasn't as ready as we all thought he was.
Indiana learned that same lesson Saturday.
The 2020 Indiana football season was one of many ups and downs. From knocking off Penn State to losing starting quarterback Michael Penix to injury (again). The Indiana Hoosiers' season was one full of surprises and great performances.
Tom Allen said it best after Saturday's 26-20 loss to Ole Miss in the Outback Bowl: "They are a special group and they lead a tremendous foundation for next year."

Let me be as blunt as possible here: The College Football Playoff is terrible and is ruining college football as we know it.
Need I say more? Don't worry, I will.
The College Football playoff website states, "The College Football Playoff (CFP) determines the national champion of the top division of college football. The format fits within the academic calendar and preserves the sport’s unique and compelling regular season."
That statement may be the biggest joke of it all.
They say, "top division of college football."
They mean "the Power 5 conferences."
They say, "the format fits within the academic calendar..."
They mean, "until a conference championship that is usually pretty meaningless is scheduled right before finals week."
Contradictions are no stranger to the College Football Playoff. The committee and their chair Gary Barta seem to let them flow off the tongue when discussing their reasoning for ranking teams on any given week.
Here are some of my personal favorites:
