In part two of the Hoosier Network’s MLB preview, yours truly flips the script to take a look at the National League. The 2024 Major League Baseball season is right around the corner, and with spring training officially in full swing, that means it’s finally time to turn our attention to the diamond. Championship week has come and gone, and as of the publication of this article, the College Football Playoff bracket has been officially decided. But more on that in a minute, as there was a lot to cover from championship week. We had a marquee showdown between two top-5 teams that ended up kicking one out of CFP contention, and then, to be perfectly frank, we had some snoozers.

Rivalry Week is here!
(11/19/23 10:09pm)
We are officially in the midst of the home stretch of the regular season in college football, and Week 12 added some more twists and turns to how the postseason picture could shake out. This was a key week for many teams, especially for those who are fighting for a spot in the College Football Playoff.

It’s honestly pretty crazy to believe that we’re already in week 11 of the college football season, but here we are. The season is beginning to wind down, but that doesn’t mean we were spared the usual fantastic action. This week contained yet another energetic and entertaining slate of games. Some of the Top 25 teams had smooth sailing, while others hit some roadblocks and had to grind their way to a win. And some just straight-up lost!

Well, quite a week that was, right?

Your favorite sportswriter is back to talk about week nine!
(10/22/23 7:48pm)
Week eight of the college football season has come and gone, and we learned a lot about who is a legitimate contender for the College Football Playoff and who is a pretender. And we learned a lot about those who I like to call “in-between,” referring to teams who will contend for a New Year’s Six bowl, but they will likely come up short of the big dance.

Week seven of the college football season had what was one of the most anticipated matchups of the year, and it did not disappoint by any stretch of the imagination. And even going beyond that, there were some entertaining bouts and some shocking results. But, I’m going to save the game I know everyone is thinking about for last. It’s like they say, “save the best for last,” right?

Hey everybody! Your favorite college football writer is back for The Hoosier Network, and he has another incredible week of college football to cover. Week six had several rivalry games that went down to the wire, particularly one that took place in my hometown of Dallas, and then there were some games that were complete blowouts.

Week five of the college football season had a tall task in front of it: live up to the ridiculousness of the slate during the previous week. And for the most part, it did that, and it did that in a big way. Lots of big statlines, ridiculous comebacks and exciting games all around. This week showed me lots of things about several different teams. And if that sounds vague, well, this is the intro, so it’s kind of intentionally so.

Week four of the college football season was hyped up to be one of the best weeks of the season, consisting of a dream slate of games, and for the most part, it lived up to the hype in a big way. Entertaining games abounded, but there were also more than a couple of highly-anticipated games that ended up being blowouts, including a certain game in Eugene, Oregon.

Week three has come and gone in the college football world, and it continues to never disappoint. The level of play was, once again, so entertaining and so incredibly fun to watch. Storylines, stats and intriguing matchups galore filled this week, and let’s take a look at what I’ve taken away after this week’s slate of games.

Welcome back to Elms’ Essentials! Yes, I came up with that name in between this week and last. But it will stick through the end of the season and through the end of this series. I think it’s cool.

Week 1 of the college football season has come and gone, and that means a brand-new takeaways series, written by yours truly, begins right now.

Last season, the Big Ten had two participants in the College Football Playoff for the first time in the CFP’s prestigious history. Michigan and Ohio State, the two powerhouses of the conference for the past several decades, each clinched a berth in the championship bracket. Even though both teams failed to make the national championship game and bowed out in the national semifinals, there is no doubt that these two programs had spectacular seasons yet again.
