INSTANT RECAP: Wilkerson continues his dominance with 41 points, IU beats Oregon 92-74

Indiana Basketball (17-8, 8-6 Big Ten) has won four of its last five games and is easing its way into the NCAA Tournament conversation. For its second game in two days the cream and crimson welcomed a struggling Oregon, that has lost nine in a row, to Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.

On a night Indiana honored the 1976 National Championship team at halftime, then announced a new statue of Bob Knight to be placed in the South Lobby of Assembly Hall, the Hoosiers cruised past Oregon (8-16, 1-12 Big Ten) 92-74. IU had one of its best shooting nights in conference play, shooting a team total 30-of-50 from the field. That mark is an astounding 60%.

The Ducks have suffered from a plethora of injuries throughout their 2026 campaign. Most notably its star point guard Jackson Shelstad, he and center Nate Bittle have missed a good chunk of the Big Ten season. Shelstad is out for the season and Bittle recently returned Saturday against Purdue.

Oregon has hedged those absences with some decent athleticism with Kwame Evans and Sean Stewart who average 13 and seven points per game. Oregon’s most recent matchup with the Boilermakers got a little sticky for Purdue, as it led for a good chunk of that game but ultimately fell 68-64.

Indiana started slow in the first half letting Oregon out to a 6-0 lead early and didn’t score until 16:16 remaining with two Sam Alexis jumpers. From then on, Indiana was +10 to close the half and went into the locker room up six, 36-30.

Lamar Wilkerson was once again Indiana’s heartbeat with 16 points in the half (Spoiler, he was not finished).

To start the second half Indiana was perfect before Oregon head coach Dana Altman called a timeout, hitting its first six field goals, including two 3-pointers from Wilkerson and Tucker DeVries. Indiana led 50-36 at the timeout.

After the timeout it was all Indiana for the rest of the contest. Lamar Wilkerson continued his dominance en route to a performance that only rivals his own against Penn State. Wilkerson had 41 points and was 13-of-20 from the field with six 3-pointers. Wilkerson had 44 against Penn State, an Assembly Hall record.

Alexis also had a strong night going 8-of-8 from the floor with 16 points. Also, Tucker DeVries added 15 points of his own.

Indiana will now look to add on when it heads to State Farm Center to take on No. 8 Illinois Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on CBS.
