Sweeping Sensation: Indiana swimming and diving teams defeat Mizzou and Auburn

The Hoosiers got contributions from new and experienced swimmers alike

The No. 5 Indiana Hoosiers brought home the victory once again against No. 20 Missouri and No. 10 Auburn during their Tri-Meet at the Mizzou Aquatic Center on Wednesday. Both the women's and men's teams had dominating performances, as the men's team defeated Missouri and Auburn 196 to 101 and 181 to 117, while the women’s team finished 198 to 98 and 177.5 to 118.50, respectively.

Senior Jassen Yep had a standout performance, as his breaststroke clean sweep left IU fans with their jaws dropped. Freshman Ahmed Hafnaoui and junior Ching Hwee Gan surely made a splash, as both swimmers swept their distance events in their respective categories. It’s important to note that this was Hafnaoui’s first short-course yards meet and this rookie shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Skyler Liu and Anne Fowler placed first and second in women’s diving. Same goes for IU’s Quinn Henninger and Carson Tyler, who also finished first and second in the men’s competition.

During the meets prior to this Tiger and Hoosier match up, IU head coach Ray Looze explained how his team still had much to do in preparation for Wednesday. It’s safe to say that Looze will be coming home with a smile on his face after this dominating performance, as the team continues to make its fans proud.

Although the Hoosiers are now 2-0, the grind doesn’t stop here. Now begins the 20-day countdown to the Ohio State Invitational on Nov. 16 in Columbus, Ohio.
